We are local residents and ratepayers who come together to campaign for changes to things we don’t like. It could be as small as street lights, or as big as more public housing, no issue is too small or too large.

Save the 561 Bus route!

Do you use the 561 bus?
Do you want the route changed back to our local streets?
The Darebin Progress Association is holding a PUBLIC MEETING on Monday 5th September at the Reservoir Neighbourhood House (on the corner of Strathmerton and Cuthbert Streets)
at 11am - 12.30pm

Who are we? What do we do? What have we achieved?

Our current campaigns

1. We are campaigning in opposition to the new ‘smart’ meters, which will cost us the earth. We were successful
in getting a few small changes, but the fight goes on. Smart meters are not smart for us, the consumer, they are only ‘smart’ for the companies who are going to profit from them - we need to stop this programme.

Some of the issues on our agenda

These are some of our problems:
* Our state schools are being destroyed in order to divert tax money to the private system. Kenneth Davidson, Journalist, Age Newspaper said ‘private school funding is utterly corrupted’.
* There are over 100,000 people who are homeless in this country and thousands more paying in excess of 40% of their income in rent.
* Full time jobs are disappearing, health and safety on the job is under attack along with our unions who exist to protect workers on the job.
